Finally the people got it right. Kristen and Rob did not win any awards. You can tell this is not the MTV awards…UGH!

Ginger says – reply to this 2

So, Supernatural wins two awards again this year and they couldn't show it on TV? Why? At least Jensen and Jared were invited this year to be there. But, still, not presenting them with the award on air is not right. Why is this wonderful show denied recognition? I was happy that Jensen and Jared were able to at least present an award. That was nice.

This always makes me want to puke and this year is no acception.

just finished watching circa 30 seconds of this so-called, people's choice.

they showed a short clip of sandra bullock, and this was the straw that broke the camel's back. it felt like i was viewing an alien. i mean i am the same birth year as she, and i'm most convinced she had more lines literally 10-15 years' ago, than she had tonight - this start to year, 2013!

i'm pretty sure of this because although i never really cared for her acting skills, she being close to my generation, age etc., i've often thought of her as kind of a reference to what has transpired through the years.

being so familiar with her face, and of course, in addition to knowing her facial expressions, the clip of her tonight really creeped me out (even with the knowledge, the facial paralyses being temporary).

it really puzzles me to no end, with the question of how an actress whose main line of work is to portray a character, is one not concerned his/her ability to do so is so impaired?

perhaps s. bullock's odd expression or lack thereof is becoming so common, i wouldn't have been so alarmed had it been some i see more often in television???

i would assume for the people whose job it is to choose characters in film and tv are going to be running into a host of difficulties (especially in terms of ethics etc.).

What happened to names of cable TV winners ? On see one listed above???? Did Leverage win ?????Great show that fools at TNT cancelled.

Lynn says – reply to this 6

Why the hate note about Sandra Bullock? The point of the award was for something she is doing to help others, not her looks.

could we forget about taylor swift she is getting on my nerves she can't sing and I really don't want to hear another one of her dumb breakup songs maybe she should audition for the chipmunks and this is definitely in the category of dumb dumb and very much dumber I will not watch if she is on another show she makes me barf

Bree says – reply to this 9

I had really hoped Ginnifer Goodwin would win Favourite TV Drama Actress. I love Ellen Pompeo, and although I think she also deserves it, Ginnifer is an outstanding actress and her role in Once Upon a Time is no exception. I hope she gets eventually gets some recognition for her amazing talent.

yaris says – reply to this 10

I am sorry but i cant stand Taylor Swift i think she is immature and i really dont like her singing she sound off key i got to say she has a good manager she is on top but not to me

yaris says – reply to this 11

Re: Bree – i agree 100 percent!!!

Jus Sayin... says – reply to this 12

Thank God that Twilight slut didn't win anything!!!!

Maria says – reply to this 13

I seriously wished either Carrie or Blake would win favorite country artist. Taylor Swift is nowhere near country. I can't stand seeing her labeled as country when she's obviously not

Maria says – reply to this 14

Re: yaris – agreed! Well said

Jess says – reply to this 15

Re: Maria –

I love Taylor! She isn't as much country as she used to be but I don't believe Carrie is that much country either.

Hales says – reply to this 16

Re: Ginger – Couldnt agree more! One of the most underrated television shows that continues to show its longevity.

Noah says – reply to this 17

fun. should have won EVERYTHING they were up for. All 3, especially the only one they had shown on TV. Nate's voice is the most unique…The Wanted? C'mon, really? The only good thing comming out of The Wanted winning is One Direction losing. 1D is so overrated just because they 'look good' they are so popular. ITS TALENT, NOT FREAKING LOOKS. Lets hope fun will win all of their Grammy nominations. My opinion is completed.

Taylor Swift & Harry Styles: More Deets On Their Breakup! Swifty Boozing To Ease The Pain?!

We've heard about the nasty words that were exchanged between Taylor Swift and Harry Styles, but now more deets are coming out about their breakup and the aftermath of their Sad Beautiful Tragic love affair.

Remember when Swifty reportedly told Harry that he was "lucky to even be with" her after she was angry about his wandering eye?? Or when Harry reportedly called it quits with the Red beauty because she apparently wouldn't put out??

That was just the surface of their issues....

During their disastrous trip to the island of Virgin Gorda where things really fell apart, Harry allegedly told Taylor what she was "too emotional," which she responded with by calling him a "d--k."

In fact, their fight got so intense, Taylor was "crying and furious" and a close source EVEN says that she even turned to booze

The people have spoken.

The 2013 People's Choice Awards honored the favorite shows, movies and celebs that was chosen directly by the fans. And as with any award show, tonight offered multiple show moments and memories to note. So take a look!

Best Attempt at Being a Superhero: After some tips from Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and the Cullens (do we really have to label the names?), host Kaley Cuoco found her inner superhuman strength to fight the zombies who were dancing "Gangnam Style."

Worst Tongue-Twister: Unfortunately, those superpowers didn't help Cuoco when she needed to read the teleprompter. It's all good, though, she just did a little laugh and started over. No one even noticed...(that's a lie).

Best Reminder: She's been in the biz for over 20 years now, and people still love her. Jennifer Aniston beat out Mila Kunis, Emily Blunt, Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz for Best Comedic Actress for her role in Wanderlust. Rachel Green would be so proud!

Homeland, Breaking Bad, Girls lead 2013 Directors Guild of America Awards TV nominations

Flashback Moment: Olivia Munn pulled a Kanye West (kinda) when Taylor Swift—who almost suffered a nip slip with that plunging neckline—was getting her Favorite Country Artist award by continuing to interrupt her acceptance speech. "This always happens to me," Swift said. Poor thing.

Best Rejection: While introducing Alicia Keys' performance, actor Shemar Moore revealed that when he first met the singer 10 years ago, he asked her out on a date. Her response? "Look here son, I respect your flirt game, but my man situation is handled." Daaaaang! Z-snap.

Sweet Moment: The cameras quickly got a glimpse of Swizz Beats and son Egypt rocking out to mommy Keys' performance. So cute!

Most Thank-Yous in One Speech: You're welcome, Chris Colfer. The Glee star won Favorite Comedic Actor in a TV Series (along with costar Lea Michele for Favorite Comedic Actress) and said "thank you" nine times. Nine. Yeah, we didn't mind.

Jennifer Lawrence's 10 best red carpet looks

Most Interesting Speech: Adam Sandler spent about five hours (not really) letting the audience know some of his favorite things when accepting the award for Favorite Comedic Actor in a Movie. It included Halle Berry, Fiona Apple, People's Choice audience and sleeping with his "third lower thumb inside dog."

Best Flexibility: Stars Monica Potter and Anthony Anderson attempted to do a flash mob (while dressed in snazzy, gold attire) but failed. However, all was made up for when the duo went down in the splits. Touché!

Greatest Noobs: The sexy boybanders from The Wanted won their first award ever for Favorite Breakout Artist, and were so incredibly sweet about it, but that's not the best part. They had promised that they'd sing Ellen DeGeneres a song if they won, so the guys did an a capella version of "Afternoon Delight" (similar to the Anchorman rendition), which was fantastic.

Fun Fact: Another reason to love Jennifer Lawrence? Well, she sweats a lot and admits it. "Oh my gosh, I'm sweating so much I'm gonna drop it [Favorite Movie Actress award]. Oh god, Robert Downey Jr. knows, I sweat all over you...when I shook his hand." Oh, J.Law.

Best Sexy Slit: Whoa, Ellen Pompeo. That slit on her white gown stopped right before her lady bits. Go 'head, girlfriend.

Worst Envy: RDJ accepted his award for Favorite Movie Actor and gave presenter Naomi Watts a very long kiss on the cheek. So jealous.

Best Tearjerker: Grab the Kleenex! For the first time, People's Choice added the Favorite Humanitarian award, which went to the beautiful Sandra Bullock (seriously, does this woman age?). During her acceptance speech, the actress held back tears while speaking of the Charter School in New Orleans she helped fund, and it was truly a heartfelt moment.

Biggest Switch: Christina Aguilera did a 180 when it came to her performance. Instead the crazy show she put on at the American Music Awards, she kept it simple with candles and a mic (and full wardrobe).

Which fierce fashionista will rock the Golden Globes red carpet?

Also "never trust anyone UNDER 30 to make an informed decision" ... did you vote before you turned 30? I wouldn't be surprised... that has to be a pretty informed decision, but like you said, if you were under 30, you must have been wrong, because you're under 30 and therefore incapable of making informed decisions. linkicon reporticon emailicon SoCalMediaSurferMiccilina says: what is so very obvious by these choices is that most of the millions of votes have come from those under 30, what a shock, and REALLY, you picked Zac Efron as best actor, OMG, now the mantra should be never trust anyone UNDER 30 to make an informed decision, what a waste of my time to even vote, only one of the choices I made won anything and the person I voted for was OVER 40! reply linkicon reporticon emailicon nathanr1889 says: Taylor Swift should wrote a song called 'Maybe Am the problem' reply linkicon reporticon emailicon petrille1 says: Zac Efron could not act out of a paper bag PEOPLE!!Loving The New Direction and Robert downey Jr. great great speech! reply linkicon reporticon emailicon sweett8139 says: what the heck was Swift wearing looking for another lover to write a sad love song about? reply Add a Comment Submit Comment Click here to add another comment. (January 2009) People's Choice Awards Format Award show Created by Bob Stivers Country of origin  United States Language(s) English Broadcast Original channel CBS Original run 1975 – present

The People's Choice Awards is an American awards show recognizing the people and the work of popular culture. The show has been held annually since 1975 and is voted on by the general public. The People's Choice Awards air on CBS and are produced by Procter & Gamble and Survivor magnate Mark Burnett. In Canada, it airs on Global. Global promotion provided by Kroszover Entertainment.

The award show's creator, Bob Stivers, produced the first show in 1975. The first awards recognized The Sting as 1974's Favorite Picture, Barbra Streisand as the year's Favorite Film Actress, and John Wayne as its Favorite Film Actor. Ratings for the annual event peaked in 1977, when the 3rd People's Choice Awards attracted 35.3 million viewers who witnessed Farrah Fawcett-Majors win for Favorite Female TV Star, Star Wars win as the Favorite Picture, and Streisand and Wayne win again in the Film Actress and Actor categories.

Procter & Gamble, the show's only sponsor, bought the show from Stivers in 1982.

The award categories have varied over the years. For example, the 16th People's Choice Awards had categories including Favorite All-Around Movie (Batman), and both a Favorite Movie Actor (Tom Cruise) and a World Favorite Movie Actor (Dustin Hoffman). At the 23rd People's Choice Awards, Rob Reiner was named the People's Choice Awards Honoree. More recently, the 32nd People's Choice Awards (broadcast in January 2006) included categories such as Favorite On-Screen Match-Up (Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in Wedding Crashers), Favorite Leading Lady (Reese Witherspoon), Favorite Tour (U2), and an award named after a Procter & Gamble brand: Nice 'n Easy Fans Favorite Hair (Faith Hill). In 2008, the People's Choice Awards introduced a new category: Favorite Sci-Fi Show. The nominees were Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica, and Doctor Who. Stargate Atlantis ultimately became the first recipient of the award.

[edit] Poll-based awards

Throughout the 20th century, the awards were based upon results from Gallup polls. Each year, Gallup took a survey of different categories for favorite actor, actress, movie, artist, television program or group. The scope was unlimited—the public could choose whomever or whatever it liked. The results of the annual survey were announced in the form of the People's Choice Awards.

Since polls have margins of error, many years' awards have had ties in at least one category, when Gallup declared that the voting was so close that a single winner could not be chosen. For instance, in 2003, both Spider-Man and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring were recognized as Favorite Motion Picture.

[edit] Switch to online voting

The winners of the 31st People's Choice Awards (aired January 9, 2005) were decided by online voting rather than Gallup polls. The nominees submitted for Internet voting were selected using an unpublished process involving editors at Entertainment Weekly, the show's production team, and a panel of pop culture fans.

The nominees for the 32nd People's Choice Awards were determined by web research company Knowledge Networks, which took what it described as a "pop culture-involved using a nationally representative sample of men and women ages 18 to 54, with and without Internet access, to come up with the nominees after being presented with a list of candidates determined by national ratings averages, box office grosses and album sales, and they had the option to write in their favorites. Knowledge Networks recruits its panel by using a RDD phone recruitment method and provides a Web TV and Internet access to households without Internet access enabling them to infer back to the entire population.

The nominees for the 2010 People's Choice Awards were determined by media research company Visible Measures, which specializes in measuring Internet Video audience behavior. The announcement of this partnership stated, "For the first time ever, the People’s Choice Awards has incorporated Internet video viewing data into the initial nominee selection process, depending on Visible Measures’ True Reach metrics to objectively measure online video popularity. Visible Measures worked with the People’s Choice Awards to determine each potential nominees’ popularity on a True Reach basis, a unique measure of the total audience that has been exposed to an online video campaign – regardless of how widely the campaign spreads or where it appears. To measure True Reach, Visible Measures deploys a robust and patented set of technologies with the goal of capturing the universe of Internet video viewership data in near real-time."

The awards have received a fair amount of criticism for this selection process as essentially rewarding any celebrity who will show up.[1]

[edit] Kids' Choice Awards

In 1988, Nickelodeon created the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, a children's version of the People's Choice Awards; beyond the similar names however, the two entities are entirely unrelated. Also similar but unrelated is the Teen Choice Awards.

[edit] Peoples Choice India Awards Main article: People's Choice Awards India

For the first time in almost four-decade history of the franchise, the acclaimed People’s Choice Awards is being celebrated outside America.

In 2012, People’s Choice Awards has been brought to the world’s largest democracy – India. Sticking to the international format, it celebrates fan favorites in music, movies, television and sports, which was introduced as a special genre.[citation needed]
